DiscoverSpace Advanced STEM Educational Technologies
Technology plays an important role in providing a delivery mechanism to reach the next generation of leaders to inspire, inform, and encourage them to pursue STEM careers (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). We are committed to the design, development, distribution and deployment of these advanced educational technologies.
These powerful new technologies are enabling new learning environments to be developed that use simulations, visualizations, immersive environments, live conferencing, virtual reality, game-playing and learner networking. These tools are creating rich and compelling learning opportunities, thereby meeting the needs of learners while empowering educators to unlock the potential of a student's mind.
DiscoverSpace as an evidence-based intervention in supporting student success. DiscoverSpace can enhance academic and non-academic indicators, including attendance, behavior, coursework, STEM, and college and career readiness. Quality DiscoverSpace programs can help close the achievement gap and reduce the "summer slide."
DiscoverSpace STEM programming is a strategy to provide students the hands-on engagement that develops their interests, confidence and experience in career building pathways.
With DiscoverSpace, learning is on-demand, meaning that students and educators have access to exactly what they need when they need it. The Link Observatory Space Science Institute is contributing to the future of education by developing new technologies and new methods for making the exciting discoveries in astronomy and space exploration, and these valuable new educational tools and resources available to students and educators.
“The biggest risk to the future of space exploration is the lack of STEM education” -Dr. John Grunsfeld at 2015 Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. |
Linking Classrooms to NASA
DiscoverSpace gives students a sense of relevance and involvement by linking STEM classroom topics to real-world NASA activities through unique and authentic NASA experiences, which inspire middle and high school students' interest in STEM disciplines today, tomorrow, and beyond. Through partnerships with national science and educational organizations and the use of best educational practices, DiscoverSpace encourages students to participate in NASA missions and develops their aptitudes in STEM.
Students will get a front-row seat at many of the most important NASA current events, missions, and research facilities. Let students be inspired by advanced technology, science, and the people that conceive, design, develop, and make it all work. Allow them to meet and interact with the pioneers and entrepreneurs of space, hear their stories, and be motivated to follow in their footsteps.
Our mission is to advance scholastic literacy of future generations with informal STEM education focused on NASA missions, astronomy, and space exploration; and to foster scientific curiosity and advance science literacy to cultivate and nurture the next generation of leaders. |
